Dear poets, writers, artists, all —
You’ve already made it.
Poetry is just the evidence of life. If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash. ~ Leonard Cohen
Who the hell are we?
Shannan and Karan founded ONLY POEMS in 2023. Justine came on board shortly after that. We also have several wonderful readers.
Why is this a paid newsletter?
This is our way to fund our lit mag, pay our poets, and eventually, our staff. Read about why ONLY POEMS is not a nonprofit and never intends to be one.
Currently, our staff is not paid anything. Every cent we make from here goes right back into running ONLY POEMS.
If you need a comp, email us; we’d be happy to help you.
What are subscribers getting out of this?
Paid subscribers get access to exclusive industry insights and interviews, creative resources, MFA help, + 25% OFF to all workshops.
We also host regular reading series and open mics.
And like, a lot more stuff. Seriously, go crazy in our fast-growing archive. We’ve got fingers in all the pots. Mmm. Yummy poetry world. Om nom nom.
Cool, now that we’ve broken the ice…
Say hey!
Thank you for entering our little corner of the lit world. We hope you’ll stay and get cozy.

Hello ONLY POEMS community! My name is Michelle, I'm a French Canadian living in London, UK. I'm looking forward to catching up on all the great newsletters here. For the past two years, I've been writing a newsletter here on Substack called OBSESSED, where I explore obsessions and what they teach us about life through essays and interviews. A couple of months ago, I started writing poetry on a regular basis again (I used to write a lot of poetry as a teenager), and it's been so nice and such a breath of fresh air to reconnect with that part of myself. Looking forward to connecting with you!
Hello. Just found OnlyPoems on Substack. I have a few favourite poets: Jillian Christmas, Oscar Wilde, Brendan Behan, d'bi young anitafrika, Dorothy Livesay, Pablo Neruda, W.B. Yeats, Ben Okri. I recently read Poetry as Spellcastin. I am an emerging poet and tried my hand at my second sestina.
